Find the App Store on your home screen — it's a blue icon with a white letter "A" made of lines. Tap it to open.
Tap Search at the bottom of the screen, then type the app name in the search bar at the top. Tap the Search key on your keyboard to see results.
Tap the app in the results to see its full page, including screenshots, ratings, and a description. Make sure it's the app you're looking for — check the developer name if you're unsure.
Tap Get for free apps, or the price button (e.g. $2.99) for paid apps. If you've downloaded the app before, you'll see a download cloud icon instead of "Get."
Double-click the Side button (on Face ID iPhones) or press your finger to the Home button (Touch ID). For paid apps, this also authorizes the purchase.
The app downloads and installs automatically. You'll see a progress circle on its icon. Once it's done, the icon appears on your home screen and you can tap it to open the app.
Find the Play Store in your app drawer or on your home screen — it has a colorful triangle icon (a play button). Tap it to open.
Tap the Search bar at the top of the screen and type the name of the app you want. Tap the search icon or press Enter on your keyboard to see results.
Tap the app in the search results to view its full page. Check the developer name and ratings to make sure it's the right app before installing.

Some apps will ask for permission to access things like your camera or location. Tap Accept to continue with the install, or review what's being requested before agreeing.
The app downloads and installs in the background. Tap Open on the Play Store page when it finishes, or find the app in your app drawer by swiping up from the home screen.
Make sure you have a working WiFi or mobile data connection. Try opening a webpage to confirm the internet is working. If on WiFi, try moving closer to your router.
If your phone is full, apps can't install. On iPhone: Settings → General → iPhone Storage. On Android: Settings → Storage. Delete unused apps, photos, or videos to free up space.
Go to Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases and make sure you're signed in with your Apple ID. If not, sign in and try downloading again.
Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile photo in the top-right, then tap Manage apps & device. If there are pending updates, apply them — a backlog of updates can sometimes block new downloads.
Hold the power button and restart your device. Once it's back on, open the App Store or Play Store and try downloading again — this fixes most stuck downloads.
If a download got stuck halfway, press and hold the app icon and delete it, then go back to the store and start a fresh download. Partial downloads can sometimes get stuck and won't resume correctly.
